Fuels for Transport
- Due to the special suitability of oil-based fuels, these are retained
for air and marine transport.
- Phase out oil-based fuels for road and rail transport, save for 10
% in blends.
- For new road transport fuels, use Not Hydrogen but Ethanol.
- Ethanol may be made from biomass, synthesised in a carbon-neutral manner,
and imported.
- Blends with up to 22 % Ethanol can be used in standard petrol engines.
- Blends with 85 % Ethanol (E85) can be used in modified or Flexible
Fuel (petrol engined) Vehicles.
- The vehicle range on 85 % Ethanol is about 72 % of that on petrol.
- 100 % Bio-Diesel can be used in near-standard diesel engines.
- Blends with 95 % Ethanol can be used in modified diesel engines.
