This T I P amounted to 68.4 mtoe in 1995 - i.e. 17.6 % of the primary energy consumption.

Heat is currently supplied from gas boilers with a heat efficiency of 65 %.

The other energy technology options considered were:

Gas-fired Micro-CHP units with an electricity efficiency of 15 % and a thermodynamic heat efficiency of 86 %.

Hydrogen-fired boilers with a heat efficiency of 65 %.

Hydrogen-fired Micro-CHP units with an electricity efficiency of 15 % and a thermodynamic heat efficiency of 86 %.

Hydrogen-fuelled Fuel Cells with an electricity efficiency of 40 % and a thermodynamic heat efficiency of 210 %.

District Heating from CHP, with an electricity efficiency of 51 % and a thermodynamic heat efficiency of 334 %.
